Jan Kustron

The thing that moves me to paint the most is the desire to create something that echoes the loveliness of the world around us and to capture it before it changes. I enjoy and prefer painting from life – whether working outdoors, en plein air, or viewing subjects in the studio. Working plein air is especially rewarding when one hears the sounds of birdsong or a babbling brook…wherever I am, the essence of the outdoors is translated into the work itself.

Drawing and painting are a second language to me, and even though I have a BA in Art Education from Florida State University, I am forever a learner. I am inspired by many kinds of art, from master paintings up to the new work that can be seen at Franklinton Fridays here in Columbus.

I am a member of the Ohio Plein Air Society and the German Village Art League and I live in German Village with my husband, Jack, and cat, Bernie.
